Those of us with oily skin can definitely relate to the ongoing battle of just trying to balance out our ever-so-shiny face. The good news is that here at Earth Science, our products will not only help reduce excess oil, but you can also use these products with peace of mind knowing all of our products in our Purifying range are cruelty-free, paraben free, vegan, and gluten free.
What Causes Oily Skin?
The sebaceous glands that are located under the skin’s surface are to thank for overproducing an oil called sebum. This sebum is made from fats and is initially produced to help protect and moisturize the skin and hair. However, an overproduction of sebum can cause clogged pores, breakouts or flakey patches on the skin, and that never-ending facial shine. Genetics, hormone changes, and even stress can also contribute to overproduction.
Our step-by-step remedy to help reduce symptoms:
- Glycerin has the property of attracting water to itself and has a smoothing effect. It’s great at helping to remove dirt and oil while maintaining balance on the outer layer of skin.
- Birch Bark Extract has natural astringent properties to combat excess oil.
- Aloe Vera is like a superfood for oily skin! It contains antioxidants that treat flakey skin caused by oily patches, and its gentle properties have amazing skin-soothing benefits.
Extra Credit:
Craving more skin care benefits? Try exfoliating your skin two to three times a week with our famous Apricot Facial Scrub. Oily skin can develop an extra thick layer of built-up dead skin on the surface, and this scrub will leave your skin feeling smooth and refreshed without over-drying.
You’ll be sure to notice beautiful benefits after applying these steps to your routine. And keep in mind, our overproduction of sebum is not all bad, those of us with oily skin have an active age-defense system built right into our face and therefore, we may see wrinkles much, much later in life. 😊
